Open Floor

Movement as a path toward wholeness

I am a certified Open Floor teacher of conscious dance and movement; I integrate this method into trainings, workshops, and group work as support for the learning and regulation process.

The body as a home

The body is our home. A place where we live, through which we feel and connect – both with ourselves and with others. Yet, many of us gradually lose contact with our body due to busyness, stress, trauma, or prolonged living “in our head.”

Open Floor conscious movement and dance practice provides a space for reconnecting with the body – a place of safety, resources, and authenticity. In it, movement is not choreography. It is a tool for exploration, regulation, integration, and connection – both on the dance floor and beyond.

What is Open Floor

Open Floor is an experiential practice of conscious movement and dance that combines the art of movement, psychological knowledge, and principles of somatic awareness.

This practice teaches us how to move within the body, emotions, thoughts, and relationships – with greater awareness, flexibility, and capacity for presence.

In Open Floor there is no “correct” movement. Every movement – small or large, gentle or strong – becomes a way to explore the inner and outer spaces of our experience.

Why practice Open Floor

Through the practice, we learn to:

  • be present in the body, even when it is intense,
  • express emotions through movement,
  • navigate movement in relationships without losing oneself,
  • build capacity to regulate the nervous system through movement, breath, and grounding.

Grounding through the body

Body anchors are resources we return to when we need stability.

For example:

  • the feeling of your feet on the ground,
  • tracking the breath,

using the space around you for clarity.

Anchors help us stay present and connected, even when the intensity is high.

Open floor in everyday life

Practice of conscious movement develops resilience, flexibility, and authentic expression.By learning to listen to the body, we more easily make decisions from a place of clarity and connection, rather than from automatic reactions.

Core Movement Resources – Foundational movement skills throughout life

At the heart of the Open Floor practice are Core Movement Resources – skills that teach us how to move through the body, emotions, and life with more awareness and flexibility:

  • Center - maintaining embodied connection with oneself, especially in contact with others.
  • Grounding – a sense of safety within the body and in the world.
  • Activation and settling – consciously regulating energy levels and finding balance.
  • Expansion and contraction – the natural opening toward the world and turning inward, following one’s own impulses.
  • Moving toward and away – consciously approaching or distancing from feelings, thoughts, or other people.
  • Spatial awareness – understanding one’s position in space and moving safely within it.
  • Release – developing the capacity to hold intense emotions without blocking them.
  • Softening – allowing the body to relax and merge with space instead of remaining rigid.
  • Vector – consciously directing movement with intention and clarity.
  • Pause – consciously stopping to reflect and integrate experiences.

What does the practice look like

Every Open Floor session is unique. The facilitator creates a safe space, and participants explore their own movement at a pace that suits them. There is no choreography or expectation, only space for exploration and connection. Movement can be quiet or powerful. Every movement carries information.

Who is Open Floor for

Open Floor is for those who want to:

  • explore the relationship with the body and movement,
  • develop emotional resilience and capacity for regulation,
  • find more creative and free expression,
  • bring more awareness into everyday life.

No prior experience is necessary. Only openness to exploration.

Invitation to movement

Open Floor reminds us that we can always return to ourselves. That the body can be our ally. That movement can become a bridge to stability, clarity, and freedom – not only on the dance floor, but in life.

Rasterećenje. Tišina. Gdje prestaje forma, a počinje prisutnost?

Uzemljenje. Povratak gravitaciji i sporosti. U tijelu i prirodi.
